Outline

This document outlines the functionality and features of Madgex Job Board affiliate sites. The idea behind affiliate sites is to offer a model whereby a single instance of a job board has the ability to power a number of alternatively branded jobseeker sites (known as affiliate sites). This is achieved through applying different branding (logo, fonts, colours, and images) to the templates that make up each jobseeker website.

Functionality

Each affiliate site will function in an identical way to the parent job board. Each affiliate site shares the same data (i.e. jobs, recruiters, user accounts, applications, CVs, JBEs etc) as the parent site. The consequence of sharing one set of data between the parent and affiliate sites is that affiliate sites share the same admin system (CMS) and Recruiter Services as the parent site. Filtering can be applied to an affiliate site so that only a subset of jobs appear. This is restricted to filtering on a single category term from the jobs categorisation scheme of the parent site. For example, if jobs on an affiliate site are filtered by a single industry sector (from the parent site), they cannot also be filtered by a job function or location.

Global settings

Affiliate sites share the same rate card as the parent, so prices for job postings, premium jobs, and candidate views are inherited from the parent site

  • Each affiliate site will share the same categorisation scheme for jobs and candidate profiles with the parent site
  • Affiliate sites will by default have an identical layout to the parent site
  • Any upsells applied to jobs will apply equally on both the parent and the affiliate sites, so it is not possible to upsell a job on an affiliate site independently of the parent site. For example, a Premium job will be Premium job on all affiliates that it appears on, as well as the parent site.
  • Job target email templates are branded to the parent site and the links within them will drive all traffic directly to the parent site.

Affiliate specific settings

  • Each affiliate site will have its own URL
  • Affiliate site Job Alerts can be branded differently to those sent out from the parent site
  • The Recruiter A to Z on the affiliate site will reflect the jobs advertised on that site (so if jobs are filtered, the recruiter job count will reflect this)
  • Activity reporting within the CMS allows filtering by affiliate site
  • Each affiliate site will have the ability to carry content different from the parent site in the following places:
    • Static pages (About Us, Contact Us, Ts & Cs, Privacy Policy)
    • Articles
    • Slots
    • SEO page optimisation
    • SEO landing pages
    • Web analytics
    • Banner advertising
    • Job alerts

Other considerations

Job Alerts

Job alerts will contain jobs relevant to the affiliate site’s filtering (if applied). When signing up for a job alert, if the jobs are filtered, the jobseeker will only be able to select criteria relevant to that filter. When a user signs up for a job alert, they are in effect adding a job alert to their account on the parent site. Therefore it counts towards their total allowance of 5 job alerts.

Canonical links

By default, the canonical links of the job listing and job detail pages will be attributed to the affiliate site. The canonical links can be set so that they point to the parent site, which will in effect be giving their SEO power to the parent site

Candidate user journey

When a jobseeker uploads their CV they are in effect loading their CV into the CV database of the parent site. There is no concept of separate CV databases for different affiliate sites.

Recruiter Services

Recruiter Services is part of the parent site and therefore carries the parent site branding, although logos of affiliate sites can be added to the page if required. Where jobs are filtered, recruiters will nevertheless see all categories from the parent site in the job posting pages, and will therefore need to know how the jobs are being filtered on any affiliate site.

Additional areas of flexibility

It is possible to have an alternative page template design and layout on the affiliate sites if required, but these will be treated as a chargeable change with additional, ongoing support costs.
